The state of Kansas is made up of 52 million acres of land. While forestland tends to be the primary land category in many other states, cropland is what dominates the Sunflower State. Kansas has some 28 million acres of cropland (or about 53% of the total land). Grassland pasture comes in second at 34%. Only 253,000 acres (0.5%) are owned and administered by federal land management agencies*. Farms and ranches, hunting land, recreational tracts and country homes on acreage are among the types of land for sale in Kansas.
