John A. Stratman is a real estate broker and third generation rancher.
Born and raised on the family ranch in Gunnison, Colo., John’s family also
has owned and operated ranches in north central Montana and western Nebraska. John has owned and operated a ranch in eastern Colorado
raising registered Red Angus seedstock and Quarter Horses. As an active participant in the agriculture real estate industry, John maintains familiarity with issues facing today’s agricultural operations.
Professionally, John spent 18 years with MetLife’s Agricultural Investment Department where he held various positions from field representative to regional manger before going into real estate marketing. In addition to
making agriculture real estate loans, his investment activities included purchasing, managing and marketing large agriculture properties in several western states. During his corporate career, John lived in Nebraska,
Wyoming, Montana, California, Oklahoma and Montana where he became familiar with agriculture and property in most of the western states.
During the last four years, John managed the Denver Regional Office
with responsibility for an agricultural loan portfolio of $700 million with
loans in all or part of 14 western states from Texas to Montana and
Nebraska to Idaho. He maintains an extensive contact list with real
estate related professionals and landowners across the west’s
vast and varied landscape.
Matt Armstrong is a co-founder and Managing Partner of AltaTerra Realty & Auction. His extensive background in Oil & Gas Technology, Real Estate, and Agri-Business pursuits has allowed him to gain the knowledge and experience to be recognized as a proven entrepreneur, land broker, auctioneer, successful investor, and professional advisor.
Having been born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Oklahoma to a family engaged in the Oil & Gas business, Matt studied and trained as a Petroleum Engineer taking on a challenge of being one of the first in the industry to develop a PC based 3D/3-Phase reservoir simulation model to be used to accurately predict the future performance of Oil & Gas reservoirs. This experience led to his involvement in the energy software industry in which, he was instrumental in the process to take the company public during 1999 (NYSE: CAMZ). As a result of this process he was able to invest in, and actively manage several agri-business start-ups including AltaTerra Realty & Auction. He enjoys spending time with his family, John Wayne movies, working with large farm and ranch projects, and specializes in “creative problem solving.”
J.W. Ross is a co-founder and Managing Partner of AltaTerra Realty & Auction. His extensive background in Real Estate has allowed him to gain the knowledge and experience to be recognized as a proven entrepreneur, land broker, successful investor, and professional advisor.
J.W. was born and raised in the Paris, Texas area. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force and was assigned to the 16th Special Operations Wing stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was honorably discharged and returned to the Paris, Texas area. Shortly thereafter, he began his real estate career where he excelled, becoming the Top Agent of the Year in 2009 for the entire network of 6,000 United Country agents and 600 United Country offices. He is an active real estate investor and enjoys spending time with his family, Harrison Ford movies, working with large farm and ranch projects, mentoring other agents, and specializes in “creative problem solving.”

As the current Managing Broker of Mason and Morse Ranch Company,
Bart oversees the daily business operations and licensing of the firm. Since 1998 he has managed the company’s real estate land sales marketing efforts helping grow the company’s reach across the western united states. He is dedicated in guiding and supporting all of the Ranch Company’s well qualified and experienced team of ranch, farm and recreational land brokers representing clients across the western United States.
He was born and raised in Nebraska where his family continues to farm corn and soybeans. He grew up helping his father operate the family farm and is no stranger to the rural lifestyle and the hard work it takes to be a successful producer. The work ethic, market knowledge and adaptability required to be a successful farmer or rancher, are the same standards he offers buyers and sellers when representing their specific interests in a real estate transaction.
Bart takes time to research the area’s agriculture soils, crop productivity, water resources, potential irrigation and water concerns, and many other elements surrounding the purchase of a farm or ranch. He is also adept in marketing farm and ranch property on a national level. Bart has spent the
last 10 years helping grow Mason & Morse Ranch Company into a top farm, ranch and land sales and marketing brokerage firm. He has helped create a top level search engine Internet presence where buyers can start
the land search process.
Bart expanded his interest in agricultural land sales and land planning
working for the University of Nebraska’s Economics Department. While completing his B.S. in Agricultural Business, with an emphasis in economics, he helped research and publish the “Nebraska Land Values Report”, a comprehensive guide to land values and leases throughout the state of Nebraska. He also received a research grant for his report on land improvements, soil erosion & tenant landlord relationships.
Bart is the President – Elect of the Colorado RLI Chapter and is an
Accredited Land Consultant”ALC” through the Realtors Land Institute.
He has completed a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development and Construction Management (RECM) from the University of Denver.
His experience as a land consultant, education in real estate finance,
land planning and construction systems are essential to a buyer when
looking for current land with long term urban or agricultural development potential.
