Eagle’s Nest sits on seven beautifully wooded acres at the top of Pleasant Valley Vista about four miles west of Ridgway. The private location is surrounded with beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees, wildlife and has one of the most spectacular views in Ouray County. The view includes the Mt. Sneffels mountain range, Ralph Lauren's Double RL Ranch, the Tell-Ouray Ranch and the San Juan mountain range. You can see a lot from 8,000 ft up! It’s a 30-minute ride to either Telluride or Montrose.
The home was built in 2004 and featured in Timber Home Living, Best Homes of the Year 2011. Local rancher, former CEO of Fluor Corp. and previous owner of The Last Dollar Ranch, Vince Kontny, spared no expense building the home. From the reclaimed antique timbers – the same Washington State timbers used in the construction of Bill Gates’ home in Seattle – to the hand-forged iron accents to the precise accent lighting, the rustic and relaxed home is truly a work of art.
At just under 2,000 sq. feet and 28’ high ceilings, the Eagle’s Nest has two bedrooms, two baths, dining room, mud-room entry, kitchen, living room, decks and two lofts. One of the lofts is used as an additional King bedroom. The home features custom wood entry doors and cabinets and beautiful Southern Pine Wood floors. Other features include a passive solar design, Loewen windows, Rumford fireplace and screen, in-floor heat (including the garage, which is accessible in the basement), tiled Mr.Steam shower, jacuzzi tub, Kohler fixtures, two hand-forged iron chandeliers, a lighted pot rack with eye-catching copper pots and pans. If desired, the
home could be added on or serve as a guesthouse as there is an equally
beautiful building site a few yards away.
Eagle's Nest is a lock and leave home. Maintenance, utilities and property taxes are low. Water is supplied by Tri-County, San Miguel Electric and there’s a propane tank on the property. There’s a gas pipeline available at the road entrance.
The owners intend to leave almost everything, including TV’s, furniture (sofa with fold-out queen bed), appliances, Weber gas grill, and patio furniture and patio heater. A few personal items and artwork will be excluded.
