\npublic beaches at Roque Bluffs state park with its long sand beach and the
\nfreshwater pond across the road from the ocean. There are some beautiful

\nMachiasport has Fort O\u2019Brian State park as well as Jasper Beach with its
\nrolling tides and the sound of the water rushing over the rocks.\u00a0 Machias is the county seat and holds a lot of
\nhistory for those who are interested in that. The first battle of the American
\nRevolution was there and the history available to study can keep anyone pretty
\nbusy! A visit to Burnham Tavern is a great place to start on Colonial Way in
\nMachias.\u00a0 Wesley itself has a pretty
\nimpressive historical society housed in what was the Wesley Corner School on Rt
\n9.\u00a0 This building is open to the public a
\nlot of weekends and anyone may call to set up a tour if they cannot hit it when
\nit is open.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
\nfamous lighthouses in that area, as well as the many hiking trails there and
\nalong the Bold Coast in Culter.\u00a0 The
\nMoosehorn wildlife refuge is only a little more than a half hours drive away
\nthat offers thousands of acres of trails to hike or horseback ride on. They do
\nopen some roads to cars in the fall to enjoy the changing leaves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
