If you just bought a new home or are thinking of buying, and you have pets, here are some things you can do to keep your pets safe.<\/p>\n<p>In the living room.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep any cords tucked away out of reach.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure any vents are covered (enough to where an animal can fit through).<\/li>\n<li>Keep plants out of reach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the kitchen.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Put food away either out of reach or in a cabinet\/pantry.<\/li>\n<li>Put child-proof locks on cabinets.<\/li>\n<li>Keep any cleaning supplies or soaps put away.<\/li>\n<li>Keep trashcans covered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everywhere in the house.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay attention to any small gaps or crevices to make sure your pet can\u2019t get stuck.<\/li>\n<li>Watch where you walk. Animals tend to follow their humans and it\u2019s easy to step on them in the process.<\/li>\n<li>Keep any hazardous material out of reach or locked away.<\/li>\n<li>Use common sense. If it is dangerous to humans\/children, it is probably dangerous to animals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bonus tip: Christmas trees.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use an artificial tree.
