Alternative Fishing Methods You Should Try This Year

Warmer weather is finally upon us so it’s time to break out our boats, fishing poles and beverages of choice and hit the water. But instead of using your normal ways to fish, there are some exciting alternative methods you should try.

Limb Lining.
If you want to start out with something simple, limb lining is easy to execute. All you need is a strong line, a weight and some bait (a minnow, fish chunk or worm will work). Just hang the line from a tree limb into the water. Make sure it reaches three to six feet deep. The rest of the work is up to the fish. Most people who utilize this method set multiple lines out at a time for best results.

Noodling.
You’ve probably seen this method done in popular videos across the internet. It’s done by sticking your arm down an underwater hole. The catfish latches onto your arm and you pull the fish out by the gills. This method is not for the faint of heart and can get a bit painful, but it’s a great adrenaline rush.

Bow Fishing.
For you bow hunters, this is a perfect method. Using a bow and arrow with a secure line attached, you can shoot and retrieve a fish from a boat, shore or truck. This will get you some bigger catches than using a standard fishing pole.

Jug Fishing.
For Jug Fishing, you’ll need bait, nylon line, hooks, weights and plastic two-liter bottles. Each line is tied around the bottle’s neck and then a bait keeper line is tied to the opposite end of the line. Most fishermen set out multiple bottles (up to 20) at a time. They are unwrapped, baited and put into the water on the up current and then watch for bites.
