Wesley Maine with its population of approximately 100 people is a wonderful, quiet place to live or vacation. This 1987 Doublewide has a large stick built addition that houses a fully handicapped accessible family room, bedroom and bath, attached to the original 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. It has a large eat in kitchen, or with the new family room open to the original living room, you could have a formal dining area as well. Prior owners were great gardeners and this property produced some fantastic gardens, the location is great for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, it is close to lakes, streams and rivers for anyone who likes to fish, swim, boat or canoe and it also has easy access to 4 wheeler and snowmobile trails.
Wesley, first known as “Great Meadow Ridge”, was incorporated January 24th, 1833, and named for John Wesley founder of the English Methodist Movement. This “big” little town is larger than most other towns in square miles, but lacking a bit in population, Route 9 was made famous as a State Route, dubbed the “Wolf Run” due to a famous tin type posted by the coastal area business to try and make people travel that route from Bangor to Calais instead of the much shorter “Airline.”
This property is about a half hours drive from Machias where anyone would find shopping, banks, restaurants, some historical sites such as Burnham’s Tavern, Bad Little Falls and some historic buildings. Machiasport has Jaspers Beach and Fort O’Brian where the first battle of the American Revolution was fought. A little further out you find the public sand beach at Roque Bluffs and the state park there also boasting a nice playground and freshwater pond.
