Old Ozark Mountain Homestead

Almost 10 acres of gently rolling Ozark Mountain land has electric and well. Pastures have grown up since the house had a fire and was torn down but not so bad they can’t be resurrected. This is a beautiful country setting where you can have your small farm animals and a garden and get back to eating real food. The well on property had good production when it was in use and still has the pump and wires in it. Foundation for small house might be salvageable but a better location for a house would be back in the meadow-like pasture under young walnut trees. There is a cattail filled frog-pond in the corner of the property near the road and irises and other domestic flowering plants near the old house foundation. A young tulip tree will draw honeybees and other pollinators in the spring. Native blackberry canes dot the old pasture. There even appears to be a large spreading chestnut tree at the edge of the old pasture. This property has a driveway to the back of the property coming off a county-maintained road about 8 miles from Saint Joe, Arkansas.  Continue east on the gravel road for 5 miles and you will be at the Maumee access to the Buffalo National River where you can launch a boat or canoe, fish for bass and catfish and goggle-eye, and hunt the 1000’s of acres of public land surrounding the river. From Saint Joe you can follow the main highway artery between Little Rock, Arkansas and Springfield MO for shopping trips and stop at Branson MO on the way to catch a show or sample the many restaurants.
