Description
Affordable Maine waterfront lot with 6± acres and 371± feet on Long Pond in Bucksport Maine. There is a deeded right of way to the lot off the Bucks Mills Road, but at the time of listing, the location and condition of the right of way are yet to be determined. The right of way may be overgrown with trees and may require clearing and reconstruction.
Long Pond is a quiet pond, consisting of 160 acres with a mean depth of 18 feet and a maximum depth of 29 feet. The pond is perfect for canoeing, kayaking or small boating. The fishing in this water body is for warm water species, such as small mouth bass, white and yellow perch. It is frequented by a pair of loons that Maine’s lakes and ponds are famous for.
This body of water consists of approximately 3.5 miles of shoreline and is about 1 ¼ miles long. The private 6± acre lot is located on the northwest shore of the pond with southeast exposure. The pond is fed by Copeland Brook and Mill Stream. The outlet of the pond is Moosehorn Stream which flows into the Dead River, to Alamoosook Lake, to Narramissic River and then into the tidal section of the Orland River. This is the fisherpersons dream location.
The elevations on the land runs from about 60 feet above sea level at the shore of the pond to just over 200 feet above sea level near the back of the lot. There is no power at the site and the distance to power makes it not feasible to run. You are talking off grid with solar or generator for your electricity needs.
The historic town of Bucksport has a population of about five thousand people and once was known for its pulp and paper mill which closed in 2014. The town has bounced back partly due to its close proximity to the cities of Bangor and Ellsworth but also due to its natural beauty along the banks of the famous Penobscot River. The town has one of the most scenic waterfronts with a fishing wharf, walking path and views of Fort Knox and The Penobscot Observatory. Downtown Bucksport has great restaurants with some of the best seafood in Maine as well as quant gift shops. Come enjoy the lifestyle this part of Maine has to offer.
