Description
Get away from the crowd at this remote 1.38 +/- acres of land for sale on Wytopitlock Lake in Glenwood Plantation, Maine. We know, the name is a mouthful.
THE LOT
The land has been surveyed and has 221 +/- feet of frontage on the lake. The frontage is small stone and gravel. This is a very good place for swimming with a solid bottom and the gradual drop off to deeper water.
One of the first things you will notice as you walk onto this land are the large trees covering the lot. This is a mostly level parcel with a very gradual slope from the road to the lake. Clear your driveway from the access road and prep your building site near the middle of the property and you will have a lot of privacy.
THE LAKE
Wytopitlock Lake has a surface area of 1,152 acres. This large remote lake is considered a warm water lake with maximum depths of 24 feet. The water quality in the lake is good with very little development around its shores.
Fishing and boating on this lake are a pleasure. Smallmouth bass and white perch are the game fish present along with a population of rainbow smelt. This is a great lake for a midsized fishing boat with a good public boat landing located on the southern shore near the outlet of the lake. Paddling canoes and kayaks is peaceful on this lake as its remote location keeps crowds of boaters away.
THE LOCATION
If shopping and touristy adventures are your thing, this is not the place for you. Glenwood Plantation is located in southern Aroostook County in a region commonly referred to as the Haynesville Woods. At the last census the population of year-round residents was 3!
The surrounding area is composed of tens of thousands of acres of undeveloped forest land, much of which is open to public use by large land owners. Big whitetail and excellent ruffed grouse habitat will keep the hunters in your family satisfied. Nearby trail systems for snowmobiling provide a lot of winter time fun.
For your required provisions Houlton is located about 35 miles to the north and Lincoln is about 38 miles south on Rte 2.
