Located on Southwest Pond in Beddington Maine, access is over a very well-maintained gravel road.  The shore frontage has a sandy gravel bottom and is excellent for swimming.  The pond is 138 acres in size and the maximum depth is 34 feet, making this a great body of water for canoeing or kayaking.  The fish species are mostly white perch with brook trout found in the tributaries.

Southwest Pond is located about 1 hour and 15 minutes east of Bangor Maine and the international airport, via Route 9, which is a well-maintained State highway.  Boston is just under 5 hours to the south.

Beddington is the third smallest organized town in Maine and has a population of less than 100 people. Known for its wild blueberries and outdoor recreation, this is the place to disappear from the crowds. The Schoodic Peninsula is about an hour away, making a daytrip to this part of Acadia National Park an easy drive.  Machias, the county seat is under an hour away and has some of the best seafood restaurants in Maine.  There is a small store and restaurant in Beddington so you don’t have to drive far if you don’t want to.  This is a rare find in Maine.
