With cold weather approaching, and already here in some places, now is a good time to start your indoors do-it-yourself (DIY) projects for your Country Home. You can easily and cost effectively decorate your house for fall and the upcoming holidays with things you already have around your house. (Ok, you might need a few things). Here are some fun ideas to get you started.

Everything pumpkin. There are so many things right around your home or yard that you can make into cute pumpkins and use them for décor. For example, utilize the rocks in your yard. Painting rocks has been around for decades. Turn boring rocks into works of art by painting them into pumpkins. You can also make extra toilet paper rolls into pumpkins by wrapping fabric around them and tying them at the top with a small twig. Like to sew? Get a pumpkin pillow pattern and get to work. The options are endless!

Break out the wine. Save your wine bottles, ladies (and gents). These bottles can be turned into masterpieces with some paint, ribbon, twine, plants or all of the above.  Paint the bottles different fall colors, add some glitter and tie a ribbon around the neck and presto, you have a centerpiece. Carve out the bottom of the bottle and put a tea light under for simple and elegant décor that you can display indoors or outdoors on your porch.  Don’t have wine bottles? Substitute mason jars for a more rustic look.

Wreaths everywhere! Finally, the go-to DIY fall décor projects always seem to be a wreath. They are easy to do, fairly inexpensive and you can put one in just about every room, including the front and back doors. Keep it simple with a wooden hoop and add a couple small pumpkins and leaves across the bottom.  Wrap the hoop with fabric and tie acorns and small twigs through each strand to make a natural wreath, or spice it up with different colored burlap, some glitter and word art. The choice is yours.
